Frequently Asked Questions

Does Every Small Business need a website?

No. In fact, I have talked a few potential clients out of creating a website for their business. Sometimes a Facebook business page or business Instagram account is all that a small business needs. Or a shop on a reselling platform.

What Are the benefits of creating a website?

Here are a few benefits:

  • A website allows businesses to share content (product info, services, images, videos, blogs, etc) in one place that their clients/customers/followers need to know when making a buying decision.

  • The insights from website traffic sources and other metrics can be very helpful for small business owners when making business decisions.

  • A website acts as the hub for all social media, direct marketing, and advertising activities. All roads of communication with your clients/customers/followers lead back to the website.

  • Lastly, a professional website gives your business credibility and instills confidence with your clients, followers, and customers.

Can a person that is not tech-savvy use SquareSpace to set up their own website?

Yes and no. I know Squarespace advertises that their platform is something anyone can use. However, I think there are many nuances that take some technical skills to navigate. I can help!

Why Do you use Squarespace to build websites?

I think Squarespace is the easiest platform for small business owners to update. I also like the easy integration with other products; like appointment scheduling, payment platforms, and email marketing. I also like the ability to review website traffic sources and other metrics.

What do you charge?

That is difficult to answer without knowing more about the website. Pricing varies based on the complexity. However, I have a basic five-page website special that gives you an idea of what to expect.

What does a small business owner need to provide when having a website built?

In one word: content. All of the information on a new website is provided by the business owner. Every word, image, logo, video, etc needs to be provided to me by you. That can be intimidating, but I can help. I can provide the name of talented graphic artists, photographers, and/or copywriters to help you create messaging and visuals for your website. If there is a brochure or other marketing materials already created, then I can reuse the images and copy on the website.

How Often do I need to update my website once it has been launched?.

That is up to you and your business needs. We can discuss your requirements before building a website. I include training as part of my pricing. If you require any help after the website is launched, I can provide maintenance services for an additional cost.

How much does it cost to maintain a website each year?

Hosting the website with a service like Squarespace is $200+/yr depending on the package. There will also be an annual fee to license the URL/domain name (like jenlovaas.com) which starts at $20/yr.

How long does it take to build a website?

The time needed to build a website depends on the complexity. I can build a basic site in a couple of weeks IF I have all of the content from the business owners.

How do I get started?

Just send me an email at jen@jenlovaas.com and I’ll start asking you some questions about your business. I’ll provide some initial pricing as soon as possible. If you have a requirement that does not match my skill set, I will refer you to the right company.
